Biological Aging and Aging Gracefully

0

Many of us tend to avoid the subject of aging, in the belief that aging is some kind of a disease that must be avoided at all cost. As we near middle life, we cannot hide the signs of biological aging and telltale signs of biological aging can be quite scary for many people. Women tend to hide behind cosmetics or resort to cosmetic surgery, just to erase the signs. Men are also seeking cosmetic surgery to maintain their appearance.

Unfortunately, biological aging is something that none of us can control. Aging is a natural process and we all ‘deteriorate’ as we age. People who have been really physically active when they were younger, still have to slow down as their biological clock ticks.

Since we cannot really stop biological aging, we just have to live with it and enjoy it. If we choose to age gracefully and learn to accept things as they are, we can be more at peace with ourselves.

Aging Gracefully

Instead of fighting the idea of biological aging, learn to accept and embrace it. You may not like to look at a wrinkling face reflected in the mirror, but you must understand the person in the mirror is still you.

You need not hide your wrinkles by using cosmetic products or having cosmetic surgery and there is nothing wrong with wanting to look younger than your age, but you don’t have to be so obsessed with the idea of looking young, that you spend a fortune on anti aging treatment. Just let nature take its course, because biological aging is not so bad when you come to accept it.

A positive factor about biological aging is that age makes our minds more mature. As we grow older, our minds become more focused and more attuned to the rest of the world, meaning that we make better decisions and judgments. Studies have shown that older people are usually better leaders compared to their younger counterparts.
